Thank you. As an early adopter I think it is important to share our experiences for a wider adaption of electric cars.
We have driven almost 2000 km with our car now and got a lot of experience about it.
I've been quite busy with my construction of a J1772 10/16A selectable mobile charger that will fit the leaf. That's why I havn't reported anything more lately.
I don't like the enormous box on the charging cables and are building a charger with all the electronics in the handle making it a very mobile charger. The hardware is working and I'm working on the software now. The handle have a button for selecting 10A or 16A charging.
Here are some other experiences of the Leaf:
- I earlier mentioned that only the iPhone showed the track information for played tracks and Androids didn't. This is wrong. The car shows track information for Android as well. Spotify for Android does not report track information however.
- The Leaf is a fantastic car. Even a combustion engineer I showed the car for yesterday was thrilled about the performance and functionality.
- Range is the most common discussion about the car since all other features of the car is equal or better to any other car. In the winter the range is normally 100-150 km. If very cold (-10 or less) you could have less range then 100 km depending on your heat requirements and speed. If standing in queues a lot with heating on in very cold weather you can use more to heating then to driving.
- I have experienced <100 km driving very cold days with "fun driving" in drive mode.
- I get angry about the article in DN where the reporter test drived the Leaf without knowing that the range meter adjusts to your driving habit and thought that they consumed a lot more battery then they did. I have thoughts of reproducing their trip and see how much battery that is consumed.
Until now all our trips, besides the holiday last week, has been done with the Leaf and it has been working well.
/Fredrik
