I think you need to think twice (or check with lawyer) before publishing the apk. Especially quoting your company name.
Reverse engineering is usually covered under "fair use" and is relatively safe to tell others how you did what you did. But repackaging someone elses software and making it available without their consent is illegal. No matter how good you think the cause is.
I know that coming from me (I am selling the plus app on market) this sounds a bit partial, but I was also on the path you were, and I considered the consequences and choose to recreate the functionality instead. So this was what I considered, and hope it helps.
Some food for thought - do you think nissan managed to make a whole electric car, and is not ready with the android app for it. Is it a coincidence that the android app for the nissan was released 1 year after releasing the car in the US and will be released one year after releasing the car in UK.![Wink]()

I will publish the .apk file for installation later to the Swedish Nissan Leaf owners. I don't know Nissans opinion on this since they are the the copyright owner of the original app but this is for a good cause and they will have benefits of the modified Android app since it propably will be possible to use for all european countries while waiting for the official release. If Nissan ask me to remove the .apk, I will. If Nissan want's their official app to work in Europe they can contact me and I'll have my company (Starmind) do the the app-development for them. We do web- and app-development for iPhone and Android.
